Inspired by the “bitterness race” of the early 2010s West Coast IPA trend, Sword of the Ancients is a tribute to the hop-heavy legends. Originally brewed as a standout release for the 2025 Beerinabox Advent Calendar, we leaned into the nostalgia of 80s action figures to name this powerhouse.

This Triple IPA is built on a foundation of Pilsner and Wheat, bolstered by Chitmalt, Carapils and Crystal for a golden body that stands up to its high gravity. We utilized Pahto and Chinook for a deep, piney resin, while Simcoe and Citra provide the classic citrus bite. Fermented with WHC Lax, the result is a beer that stays true to its name. Truly bitter, yet deceptively easy-drinking for its 9.5% ABV.
